This past week has been a roller coaster ride. I’ll start by saying that everything that’s happening around us today is very intense. We began the year with COVID-19; we were all quarantined and told to stay home. But now, there are protests every single night for the Black Lives Matter movement. This year is one for the history books.
It’s hard to focus at times like these, but you have to remember that you don’t have to protest and march to support the BLM movement you can donate, support, and educate, that’s all just as important. It’s essential to have these conversations with the people around you and to talk about things that make you uncomfortable. Racism has been around for centuries worldwide; this isn’t just an issue in the United States.
Every day more and more pictures and videos are being released about all of the protests happening, and I feel as though I can’t do anything but read the news articles and watch the videos; otherwise, it will seem like I don’t care. But I know that’s not true. I’ve donated, I’ve had the tough conversations with friends and family, I’ve supported and been an ally for as long as I can remember. Growing up in a country that was predominately Asian showed me all of the different sides of racism. It’s essential to stand by the people who need us, which is why it’s been difficult for me to look away from the news long enough to do work.
This week I did research. I researched UX design. UX design is the most significant part of my project, so I need to make sure I have a lot of information on it. So I researched for a while. But I’m also someone that researches while they write, so it was a struggle to study without writing. So, I decided that I am going to outline. A pretty simple solution to a problem I didn’t think I’d have.
I then saw a couple of visuals that I want in my project, so I created small little sketches and diagrams as a base for when I start to create the actual visuals that will be in the project. They are linked below if you want to check them out!
